Held at the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center in Dallas (TX), less than a mile from where five Dallas officers where gunned down in 2016.
Over the weekend, the National Rifle Association (NRA) hosted its 147th annual meeting in Dallas. Over 80,000 NRA members and gun advocates converged on the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center to hear prominent proponents of the 2nd Amendment and view hundreds of weapons from gun manufacturers and retailers.
Less than two years ago, five Dallas police officers were killed and nine people injured in a shooting spree in the city. The attacker wielded an Izhmash-Saiga 5.45mm rifle, a military grade, high capacity variation of the AK-47, the same type of weapon, among many others – including the AR-15 (used in the mass shooting and murder of 17 students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas in Parkland, Florida and the murder of 59 people in Las Vegas) and the ORSIS T-5000 (a sniper rifle manufactured by Russia and identified in a recent report by the US military as one of the biggest threats to service members on the ground) – that the NRA proudly displayed and promoted at the meeting.
The NRA hosted their meeting less than a mile (four minute drive) from El Centro College, the site where the five Dallas Police Officers were gunned down…

Winning Connections would also like to commend Ellen’s in Dallas for standing up for gun regulations. The NRA issued a public boycott of the establishment as a result, but the restaurant was so successful over the weekend it is donating $15,000 to Mom’s Demand Action for Gun Sense.
