PROVIDING ACCESS TO SOLAR ENERGY

We partnered with the Coalition for Community Solar Access to change the culture around solar in the Anne Arundel, Maryland, County Executive’s Office.

CHALLENGE

Though Maryland approved grants for community solar several years ago, in the spring of 2019,
Anne Arundel County had yet to approve a single community solar project.

STRATEGY

We connected over 600 constituents with the County Executive’s Office over the course of three months. These calls provided a significant counterbalance to the small-but-vocal “not in my backyard” advocates.

RESULTS

This long-term approach helped to make solar a serious priority for the County Executive and increase the speed with which community solar projects moved through the approval process.
